Santa Maria, CA - After qualifying at the top of the speed chart, but having the time thrown out because of restrictor issues,Trey Marcham's woes continued with a steering box problem in his heat which sent him to the wall. But Marcham was undaunted and wheeled the number 81x Steve Watt Maxwell Industries USAC West Coast Sprint Car from dead last in the semi to a 3rd place finish to earn a p18 starting position in the A-main event at Santa Maria Raceway in Santa Maria California. Determined to get to the front, Marcham worked his way diligently from p18 to a 3rd place podium finish earning him the BR Motorsports/King Racing Products Hard Charger Award.
"I was determined to not let circumstances result in a bad finish," Marcham stated. "I was going to the front regardless of where I started."
Saturday's results keeps Marcham 3rd in points in the USAC West Coast Sprint Car series. Marcham's next USAC West Coast Sprint Race is June 25 at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA. Look for his brother Josh Marcham at US 24 Speedway in Logansport, IN for the Nonwing Shootout on June 23-25.
