Logan Forler Continues To Build Momentum Through ASCS Speedweek

BOISE, Idaho (June 21, 2016) Struggling at times, but overall pleased with his 2016 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Speedweek, Logan Forler ended the series of five nights with four Top 10’s and a top-five run in the Rush Concrete Pumping/Steve Forler Trucking No. 2L.

Summarizing his week of racing, Forler stated, “We struggled a lot during Speedweek. We tried a lot of different things and I think we finally got a pretty good hold on it the last night at Wheatland, so Speedweek was good for us because we were able to progress on the speed of the car and kind of showed ourselves that we can dig ourselves out of a hole, especially after we hurt an engine at Sedalia but I was happy with Speedweek. I was still disappointed with some of the finishes we had, but I was happy we were able to get the car rolling better.”

Seventh at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday, June 11, the series saw Tuesday at the Devil’s Bowl fall to rain. Back in action on Wednesday, June 15 at the Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. Forler was able to grab a seventh place finish.

“At Lawton, we were really good in the Heat Race and in the Main, we didn’t really anticipate how slick it was going to get with what we were trying with the car. We were able to hold our own, but we really couldn’t go forward.”

North to Sapulpa, Okla. on Thursday, Forler rolled out of Creek County Speedway 10th as it seemed that every door that Logan tried to step through would get slammed shut, “It just seemed like every move we tried to make was the wrong one and we just kind of did the same thing and held our own. When I’d try to go somewhere, there would be someone there. It was a tough track to pass on, but the car was decent.”

Losing an engine at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. on Friday, Forler had to advance from the tail of the B-Feature; taking the final transfer spot on the last lap from John Carney II.

“The car was really good in the Heat, and we were up to fifth before we blew the engine. We got it changed for the “B” and the car was great. I didn’t think we were going to make it but we got the last transfer on the last corner. I knew where I was and decided I was sailing her over the guardrail or making the pass on that final lap. In the feature, we started all the way at the back and it was just tough to make up any ground,” said Forler who ended up moving from 22nd to 16th.

Getting things rolling Saturday at the Lucas Oil Speedway, Forler rolled eighth to fourth in his Heat to lineup third in the Qualifier. Finishing where he started, the combined points put the No. 2L 10th in the A-Feature lineup with a 4th place result.

“The engine we put in at Sedalia is a thumper. Blowing the engine at Sedalia put us back to our best engine and the car was great every single time we hit the track, in fact, we didn’t really change anything on the car all night long. I think the only thing we changed was the stagger in the feature, and moved the right rear in a little bit. The package all together was just a good package so hopefully we can carry that momentum into Dirt Cup and make it a good weekend.”

On the road west, Forler’s last visit to the Skagit Speedway was on April 30, 2016 with a fourth place finish in the 360cid division, and a win with the Sportsman Sprints. For more information on the 45th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup, log onto http://www.skagitspeedway.com.
