Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (June 21, 2016) – Joe Trenca was just a tick off on the setup last Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway, where he set himself up for a third straight top-10 finish.
“We were real good early,” he said. “We timed in eighth quickest and we won our heat race. We had speed. We just misread the track for the feature. I thought for sure we were going to be good in the feature.”
The Mucci Motorsports driver timed in eighth quickest during qualifying, which lined him up on the outside of the front row for a heat race. He took the lead midway through the race en route to his second straight heat race win and third of the season.
That lined him up on the inside of the third row for the Patriot Sprint Tour main event.
“We just didn’t have a ton of forward drive,” he said. “I usually like the fast tracks and drive hard off the left rear. We’re still figuring out the new shocks, but we know what we did wrong. We have something to build on and we know where we can improve.”
Trenca ended with a 14th-place result.
He heads into a Patriot Sprint Tour doubleheader this Friday at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio, and Saturday at Stateline Speedway in Jamestown, N.Y.
“I’m really hoping to win this weekend,” he said. “Last year we ran decent at both tracks. We just need to have good starting positions and I think we will be in the hunt.”
Trenca finished fifth during his lone visits to Raceway 7 and Stateline Speedway last season.
