Belleville, IL – This Friday, June 24th kicks off the annual Race Around the Arch Weekend, with Friday night’s show at the high-banked Belle-Clair Speedway for both the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series. Both series will then head to Saint Francois County Raceway on Saturday to race on the D-shaped 3/8 mile. In 2015 fans saw Darren Hagen take the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series win at Saint Francois County Raceway in thrilling fashion, as the right rear tire on Hagen’s machine went flat exiting turn four on the final lap, but he still held on to win. Nathan Benson took the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series victory, fending off Aaron Andruskevitch and showing drivers the fastest way around the track.
After a grueling five straight days of racing for Illinois SPEED Week, POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series Illinois SPEED Week champion Tanner Thorson now holds a 20 point margin over Zach Daum. Spencer Bayston sits in third, a mere 30 points out of the lead. Andrew Felker is 300 points out of the lead in fourth, while Justin Peck holds fifth, 430 points away from the top position.
In POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, Nathan Benson holds an astounding 700 point lead over Jeremy Camp. Shelby Bosie holds the third position, 60 points behind Camp, while Slater Helt sits in fourth. Joe B. Miller rounds out the top five.
