This Saturday night will see the winged warriors of sprint cars return to Park Jefferson for the North vs. South Sprint Car Shootout to honor Mark Lloyd. The best drivers from Nebraska will come north to take on the top drivers from South Dakota plains as the Nebraska 360 sprints will be facing off against the Midwest Sprint Touring Series. A number of top drivers are expected to be on hand including Jack Dover, Lee Grosz Jr. and more.
All this great sprint car action will be added on top of the already superb IMCA weekly racing that has been happening this season at the Union County oval. Every division has seen some very exciting racing during the 2016 season and the action will only get hotter as all five divisions will be in action on Saturday.
This Saturday will also feature the Road to the Iron Cup for drivers in the J&J Stock Car division and the Schaeffer Oil Sport Modified division. The Road to the Iron Cup is a unique opportunity for drivers to race for an increase in purse of $100, with $50 going to a driver drawn from a hat in positions 1-5, $25 going to a driver drawn from positions 6-24, and a $25 hard charger award to the driver advancing the most positions on the night. In addition, every driver that competes in a heat race this week will receive a coupon of $20 off of registration for the Iron Cup.
Mark Lloyd lost his life to pancreatic cancer just last year, was an integral part of restoring racing to Park Jefferson family. Along with his boys Austin and Colin who both have worked at Park Jefferson, Mark helped with track prep and reconstruction of Park Jefferson.
