Inside Line Promotions – STOCKTON, Calif. (June 21, 2016) – Chase Johnson posted his sixth top-10 finish of the season last Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track.
Johnson kicked off the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series event by qualifying seventh quickest in the Shawn and Cyndi Thomas entry.
“We started off the night really strong,” Johnson said. “We qualified seventh and that put us in a great spot for the heat race. I just didn’t get the jump and I spent the whole race in second.”
Johnson’s second-place result locked him into the 10th starting position for the main event.
“I really struggled on getting a handle on the race car in the feature,” he said. “We got a couple of positions and got up to eighth and then lost a couple of positions. We were fast enough to stay where we were, but not to move forward.”
Johnson maintained a top 10 throughout the feature before placing 10th.
He will return to King of the West competition this Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., for the Pombo/Sargent Classic and Saturday at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, Calif., for the Wine Country Classic.
“This will be my third time going back to Ocean Speedway this year,” he said. “I always enjoy getting back to Watsonville. Normally it’s pretty racy and widens out quite a bit. We have some good notes from when we were there early in the year.
“I always love going to Calistoga. It’s close to home. I can’t wait to race in front of our home crowd.”

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Newman Freeman Racing
During the 1976 auto racing season, actor Paul Newman became interested in forming a professional auto racing team and contacted Bill Freeman from Santa Barbara. Freeman is credited as the man who introduced Newman to professional auto racing management and their company specialized in Can-Am, Indy Cars and other high performance racing automobiles.
“The reason Paul Newman got into racing was because of a guy named Bill Freeman,” Johnson said. “Bill hasn’t really been involved in racing since Paul’s death so we really appreciate his support and partnership.”
Johnson would also like to thank Johnny Franklin’s Mufflers, PitStopUSA.com, Shifty Illusions, Napa Auto Parts, Flowmaster, Don’s Truck Repair, VSR, Oroville Cycle, I-Wear Graphix, Driven Raceway, Nor-Cal Transmission and Chevron Pro-Gas for their continued support.
