Tonight: ASCS Speedweek Hits The Clay At Lawton Speedway

LAWTON, Okla. (June 15, 2016) With the Devil’s Bowl falling to the wrath of Mother Nature, the 2016 ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and Bob Westphal Memorial Cup heads for the Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. to get the second round of racing in the books on Wednesday, June 15.

A red clay quarter-mile located just south of Lawton, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series has seen action at the Oklahoma oval 14 times with nine of those stops happening during Speedweek with seven different winners. Gary Wright stands as the only driver to make multiple trips to Victory Lane with three wins to his credit.

Among the lineups of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour drivers, some of the top drivers from across the ASCS Nation will also be on hand as five-time ASCS Gulf South Champion, Ray Allen Kulhanek, has teamed up with Simmons Motorsports for the remained of the Speedweek lineup. Also making the trip from the Gulf South ranks is Tommy Bryant, who is currently ranked third in ASCS Gulf South driver standings.

ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints Winner, Andy McElhannon, has made the trip from Nesbit, Miss. for a run at Speedweek glory as well. With eight wins in 305cid and ASCS competition, John Carney II will take the John James Racing team on the road through Wheatland. Also on the roster is ASCS Southwest regular, James Mosher, who has picked up pair of podium finishes with the Southwest Region in 2016. Running a mix of Midget and Sprint Car events this season, Harli White will also chase Speedweek glory.

Adding to the lineup of talent is Bryan Clauson. Set to take on Lawton Speedway as well as Creek County Speedway on Thursday, June 16, the three time Indianapolis 500 starter, and 2014 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Champion, continues his “Circular Insanity Tour” with the goal of 200 nights of racing in 2016.

For the first time, MAVTV Motorsports Network will be at each event. Each night’s airdate is TBA. From Speedweek, the MAVTV crew will follow the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour to Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. for the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup June 23-25. All nights can be heard live on http://www.racinboys.com.

Since the start of Speedweek, 130 nights have been contested at 37 tracks, in 35 cities, across nine states. Gary Wright stands as the winningest driver in Speedweek history with 30 wins.
