Inside Line Promotions – QUINCY, Mich. (June 14, 2016) – Caleb Helms earned his first top-five finish of the season at a great time.

Helms recorded a fifth-place result last Saturday at Butler Speedway during the final Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event before Ohio Speedweek, which features eight races in nine days beginning this weekend.

“It’s great to get a top five and hopefully that will give us a big boost going into a busy week with a lot of races at many different tracks,” he said.

Last Saturday’s event began with Helms setting quick time during qualifying for the first time this season.

“After that I knew all I had to do in the heat race was hang on for a top six to make the dash,” he said. “I made a bad judgment on the start and drove off the track in turn one. I had to restart last and it took all eight laps to get back into the sixth spot, which transferred me into the dash.”

Helms drew the highest number – eight – during the dash redraw to start last in the dash. He finished in that position to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“We got up to fifth on the first lap of the feature and they had a wreck,” he said. “They went and watered the whole track during the red flag. They wanted to disc it, too. The biggest issue was there was no light. It was really bad dust-wise, but there was no light. I was feeling one thing before the water and then that feeling came back at the end of the race.”

Helms battled for a top five throughout the feature before finishing fifth.

Last weekend began on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, where Helms qualified third quickest. He finished fourth in a heat race to miss locking into the feature redraw by only one position. Helms then placed second in the B Main to transfer into the 19th starting position for the main event.

“I felt pretty good and had a good working car,” he said. “That was a big improvement on how we’ve done there lately.”

Helms charged from 19th to a 12th-place result, which was tied for the most cars passed.

Next up, Ohio Speedweek begins this Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, and continues Saturday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio; Sunday at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio; Monday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio; Tuesday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio; Wednesday (June 22) at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio; Friday (June 24) at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio; and Saturday (June 25) at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

“It’s exciting to be able to focus on racing for a week and a half,” he said. “I feel like we’re capable of stringing together some good results.”
