PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting upside down at the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN while running inside the Top-10 last Wednesday night, Paul McMahan and his Destiny Motorsports team shook down a new car at the Knoxville Raceway over the weekend and had their fair share of bad luck.

“We have gone from struggling to just downright having bad luck as of late,” Paul McMahan said. “I thought we had a good run going on Wednesday night but contact on the last lap got us upside down, and we thrashed to get a new car ready for Knoxville. We didn’t quite have the speed we were hoping for, and again found some more bad luck.”

At the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN, McMahan would time in 10th fastest, lining the Elk Grove, CA native up in the second row of his heat race. Getting off to a great start, McMahan would run in the second spot early but a late move by Donny Schatz would knock him back into the third spot and out of the Dash.

Lining up seventh in the feature event, McMahan had a nice showing aboard his MonDak Portables/Benic Enterprises/Ft. Union Supply and Trading entry as he battled for position in the Top-Five during much of the race.

Taking the white flag, McMahan would feel from another driver and the end result would be him getting upside down. With just minimal laps left in the race, McMahan would elect to restart and would end up finishing in the 15th position.

A light night at the shop saw the team get a new car together for the weekend showdown in Knoxville, IA and Friday night saw the team endure more bad luck.

Timing in 15th fastest in his qualifying flight, McMahan would finish in the eighth spot in his heat race and be relegated to the Last Chance Showdown. In the LCS, a car would get sideways on the front stretch, and as McMahan went to avoid contact his car would spin around and make contact with the front stretch wall ending his night.

Back at it on Saturday night, McMahan would finish seventh in his heat race and find himself in the fifth row of the LCS where he would finish 10th.

On this night however, the team opted to use a provisional to get more track time to figure out the issues that hampered them.

Avoiding a multi car pile up early in the race, McMahan was able to pick up a few positions during the course of the race as he would work his way forward to finish in the 11th spot.

“It was a tough week for our team,” McMahan said. “It is tough not making shows, but we just have to keep at it. My guys are working hard, and my owners are staying positive.”
