Attica Raceway Park will kick off the 34th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek Presented by Cometic Gasket on Friday, June 17. ARP will be the first of eight race nights at eight different Ohio tracks all over the course of nine days.
Friday’s speedweek opener will mark the 111th visit of Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speedplant. The All Stars have competed at ARP twice in 2016 with six time series champion Dale Blaney winning both events. Blaney, who has 25 career wins at Attica of which 18 have been All Star events, is coming off a series win this past Saturday at Butler Battlegrounds Speedway. It was his 131st career All Star victory. He also scored the speedweek win at Attica in 2004, 2007 and 2015.
Blaney and All Star competitors Chad Kemenah (21 career wins at ARP), Sheldon Haudenschild (2 career wins at ARP), Danny Holtgraver (3 career wins at ARP), Cap Henry (4 career wins at ARP), TJ Michael, Lee Jacobs (4 career ARP wins), Caleb Helms, Kraig Kinser and Andrew Palker (1 career ARP win) will have their hands full with the tough Attica weekly stars. Seven time track champion Byron Reed scored his first win of the season this past Friday and now has 32 career ARP victories. Former track champions Caleb Griffith and Chris Andrews have also posted victories in 2016. Throw in Brian Lay who owns two career victories at Attica and recorded a second place run Friday, Travis Philo (2 career ARP wins), Jordan Ryan, Jody Keegan, Stuart Brubaker (4 career ARP wins), DJ Foos, Tyler Gunn and regional competitors and it will be an entertaining battle.
Gates for Kistler Engines/Ohio CAT Night will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7:45 p.m. Adult general admission tickets are $22; senior citizens $20; teens (ages 11-15) $10; kids 10 and under free; and pit passes are $35.
Also racing will be the Summit Equipment UMP Late Models in a complete program and the make-up B-main and A-main from the May 20 rain out.
There is plenty of camping area available with limited areas with electric.
