Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (June 13, 2016) – Trey Starks captured his second straight feature victory and his fourth of the season last Saturday at Skagit Speedway during the John Carroll Classic.
Starks opened the event by qualifying seventh quickest before he won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row.
“We didn’t have as much speed as we wanted early in the night,” he said. “We just weren’t quite there and we were battling mechanical issues early in the night.”
The feature was inverted by eight, which put Starks on the outside of the front row for the 25-lap main event.
“They rolled an eight and we got to start on the front row,” he said. “We had a good start on the initial start, but it got called back. We slipped to second on the second start, but I got the lead on the top in turns three and four in lapped traffic.”
Starks took over the top spot on Lap 7 and he navigated traffic efficiently to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the race.
“Traffic can be really tough at Skagit,” he said. “I tried to make good decisions and keep moving through traffic. I made sure I was patient. We just had to make all the right choices. The combination of having a pretty good car and making the right decisions helped us get the win.”
It marked the third different track in Washington Starks has won at this year.
He will return to competition this Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore.
