Inside Line Promotions – AMARILLO, Texas (June 13, 2016) – Brandon Hanks struggled with mechanical and handling problems during his debut at Route 66 Motor Speedway last Saturday.

“We started the night with a mechanical issue so that put us behind from the beginning,” he said.

Hanks dropped from his second starting position to a fifth-place result during a heat race on the opening night of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s 24th annual Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek. That lined him up on the outside of the eighth row for the main event.

“We were so focused on the engine we didn’t get to do much with the setup,” he said. “I was so tight in the feature it wouldn’t turn in a 40-acre field. It was a fun race track. It’d have been good if we were on our game. We just lost focus on the car. We were too worried about the engine.”

Hanks ended with a 20th-place result. However, he believes the mechanical problem was fixed as the remainder of the Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek is on tap. Hanks will compete on Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas; Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla.; Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Friday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.; and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

“We’ve got some good race tracks coming up,” he said. “I have different goals for different race tracks. I think we’re capable of accomplishing all of our goals.”

Hanks has won at Missouri State Fair Speedway and Lucas Oil Speedway this season. He also has results of third and seventh at Creek County Speedway, fifth at Lawton Speedway and 17th at Devil’s Bowl Speedway this year.
