Inside Line Promotions – HARTFORD, Mich. (June 8, 2016) – Josh Baughman set himself up for a strong debut in Michigan last Friday.

Baughman powered from third to win a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race, which earned him a spot in the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 1 during the random redraw to line up on the pole for the 25-lap main event at Hartford Speedway.

“That was huge because the track turned out to be one lane on the bottom,” he said. “We set ourselves up and got a little luck to be where we needed to be starting the feature, but we ran out of luck once the green flag was waved.”

Baughman hit a hole on the opening lap, which bounced the car around and spun him out. Although the car wasn’t badly damaged, the caution forced Baughman to restart at the tail of the field.

“You always want to capitalize whenever you draw a front row starting position for the main event,” he said. “Unfortunately, we had a miscue and that cost us an opportunity to race for the win.”

Baughman rallied from the back to post a seventh-place result, which was his fourth top 10 of the season with the series and ninth overall.

Last week’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour races at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Ind., on Wednesday and at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Ind., on Saturday rained out.

Baughman will get back in the race car this Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, to kick off the 24th annual Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek, which features six races in eight days.

“We have a lot of racing and traveling coming up with the ASCS National Tour the next week and a half so it’d be great to start Speedweek off with a win,” he said.
