Just A Glance: The Season So Far

TULSA, Okla. (June 8, 2016) Going into the month of June, the American Sprint Car Series is in full swing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network and all ASCS Regions seeing competition.

While Mother Nature has had her way with 14 dates falling to rain, an additional night was also called off due to the track closing down. With that said, that bring us to 39 nights of racing have been contested. With co-sanctioned races, that accounts for 50 ASCS sanctioned events completed with 25 different race night winners out a total of 269 drivers taking part in at least one ASCS sanctioned night of racing thus far.

Three drivers are tied at the top of the win chart so far this year with Brandon Hanks, Aaron Reutzel, and John Carney II each finding Victory Lane on three occasions.

Hanks also joins the list of first time winners in 2016. So far, six drivers have earned their first ASCS sanctioned event win. Those include Brandon Hanks (Cotton Bowl Speedway – National), Josh Baughman (Bronco Raceway Park – National), Colton Hardy (Arizona Speedway – Southwest), Andy McElhannon (Jackson Motor Speedway – Southern Outlaw Sprints), Morgan Turpen (Southern Raceway – Southern Outlaw Sprints), and most recently Skylar Gee (Gallatin Speedway – Frontier).

For the whole of ASCS, 83 drivers have at least one top-five finish with 132 recording at least one Top 10. Of the 269 drivers on the list of races, 225 have made the call in an A-Feature. The highest car count recorded thus far is 47, the lowest 15. The overall average is 27.18 per event.

By Tour, the car count average breaks down as such: National: 36.5; Frontier: 22; Gulf South: 28.8; Red River: 32.6; Southern Outlaw Sprints: 26.6; Southwest: 23.2; Warrior: 27. ASCS events have been held in 29 cities across 13 states so far this season. Drivers on the other hand have traveled from 158 cities across 27 states, and three countries.
