Inside Line Promotions – CENTER LISLE, N.Y. (May 31, 2016) – Joe Trenca captured his first top 10 of the season last Saturday at Thunder Mountain Speedway with the Empire Super Sprints.

“It’s nice to get the first top 10, but the stats don’t really show how we’ve done this year,” he said. “We’ve done a lot more traveling and had new adventures and we’re learning a lot.”

The Mucci Motorsports driver kicked off Saturday’s event by finishing where he started in a heat race – fifth – and in a dash – third. That lined Trenca up on the inside of the eighth row for the main event.

“I like that place a lot, but the track threw us for a loop,” he said. “It wasn’t very racy early and didn’t slick up like we planned. In the feature we had to go where nobody else was. Everyone was on the bottom so we had to make use of what was on the top, which wasn’t much.”

Trenca rallied from 15th to post the ninth-place result, which capped a long weekend that began the previous night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., where Trenca competed in the Circle K/NOS Energy Drink Outlaw Showdown with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

He qualified 20th quickest and placed seventh in a heat race, which relegated him into the Last Chance Showdown.

“We didn’t time in very fast,” he said. “We weren’t bad in the heat race, but there were some good guys in the heat. You make one mistake and those guys pounce on you. We were really good in the Last Chance Showdown.”

Trenca won the consolation race to garner a transfer into the back of the main event.

“The track was abrasive on tires and started rubbering up,” he said. “We didn’t have the best showing, but I felt good and we got some notes for hopefully the World Finals at the end of the year.”

Trenca, who finished 19th, is slated to compete this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.
