CALIFORNIA, Mo. (May 29, 2016) Score another one for Jonathan Cornell, as the driver of the Kiowa Line Builders/Starline Brass No. 28 picked up the win at the Double X Speedway on Sunday night in the annual Tribute to Jesse Hockett with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

Jumping to the lead on the start, Cornell relinquished the top stop working off turn four on the opening lap to Cody Baker who pulled off a textbook slide job. Caution working Lap 3, the restart had Cornell all over the back bumper of the No. 38. Looking at all avenues, the chance to strike came on Lap 6 as Cornell held the lead by a nose at the line.

Working to traffic, Cornell kept the field at bay as Wayne Johnson moved to the runner-up spot and began to close the gap. Caution just past the race’s half-way point, Johnson lined up the No. 2c for the shot at gold, but saw the car ball up on the right front; giving Jonathan plenty of breathing room.

Fending on the City Vending No. 2c on the races final restart with six laps to run, Jonathan Cornell picked up career win No. 27 with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

Wayne Johnson held off Kyle Bellm in the closing laps for second. Randy Martin fought to fourth with Cody Baker settling for the fifth spot. Evan Martin was sixth with Chris Morgan seventh. T.J. Muths crossed eighth followed by Tyler Blank from 17th. The top-ten rounded out with Tyler Thomas.

The Tiger Towing High Point Driver of the Night was Corey Nelson, who also took the challenge. The No. 34 made it up to 13th.

Next of the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will be the rescheduled Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo. on Friday, June 3.
