Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (May 27, 2016) – Ian Madsen swept the Last-Deck® 360 Sprint Cars featuring the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Tri-State Region double features on Friday at Jackson Motorplex, where the night ended with Madsen executing a last-lap pass to claim his second victory of the night.

Other feature winners include Dusty Ballenger, who charged from eighth to garner his second straight Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars feature triumph, and Tony Rustad, who captured the Heartland Racing Association non-wing sprint cars win.

Madsen was able to double up his trips to Victory Lane as he took advantage of the pole position to lead all 20 laps during the first Last-Deck® 360 Sprint Cars main event. That lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the second 20-lap feature, but it didn’t take long for him to move toward the lead.

Madsen was running seventh when a caution came out on Lap 9. He gained a spot on the restart, was up to fifth on Lap 11, took fourth on Lap 13, cracked the top three on Lap 16 and drove into the runner-up position on Lap 17.

He then closed in on leader Kaley Gharst, who had rallied from eighth into the lead by Lap 9, and threw a slide job in turns three and four that resulted in Madsen jumping the cushion and banging his right rear tire off the wall. However, he kept going and benefitted from a caution with two laps remaining.

“I had a chance to slide Kaley and did it too hard,” he said. “Thankfully we got a yellow and I got a second chance. I was lucky enough to sneak around in turns one and two on the outside. It doesn’t normally go to plan like that, but it did tonight.”

Madsen took the lead by driving around Gharst exiting turn two. Gharst finished second with Cody Ledger rounding out the podium. Casey Friedrichsen, who led the first eight laps, placed fourth and Tim Kaeding was fifth.

The first feature was a bit smoother for Madsen, who had to fend off Gregg Bakker for most of the race. Madsen preferred the outside groove, which gave him enough momentum to maintain the lead when Bakker repeatedly pulled to the inside of him.

Kaeding used a strong move to advance from fourth to second place with two laps remaining as Skylar Prochaska scored a third-place result. Bakker held on for fourth and Gharst ended fifth.

Madsen, Kaeding and Bakker each claimed a heat race victory and Matt Juhl won the B Main.

The GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Tri-State Region returns to action next Thursday at Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn.

Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars

Ballenger used the cushion to his advantage as he powered to his second straight Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars feature triumph.

Ballenger, who started the 15-lap main event on the outside of the fourth row, capitalized on a mid-race restart to pass polesitter Kaleb Johnson for the top spot with four laps remaining.

Johnson finished second with Bruce Anderson, Collin Smith and Elliot Amdahl rounding out the top five, respectively.

Nate Eakin and Anderson were the heat race winners.

Heartland Racing Association Non-Wing Sprints

Rustad took advantage of his front row starting position to lead the duration of the 12-lap Heartland Racing Association main event.

Alex Schriever ended in the runner-up position with Clinton Bruns placing third, Brandon Stevenson fourth and Rick Jansma fifth.

Rustad also won the lone heat race.

Jackson Motorplex is scheduled to host action on Saturday, including the Wilmont Oil IMCA a mods, Bohl’s Small Engine & Marine IMCA sport mods, Minnesota West – Jackson Campus IMCA hobby stocks, Boji Bay Water Park IMCA sport compacts and IMCA stock cars.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and older, $6 for students ages 13 to 18 and free for children ages 12 and younger. Pit passes are $30.

The pits will open at 4 p.m. with the main gates opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 7 p.m.
