(Bill W) May 18, 2016 – Wayne Johnson and the Two-C Racing team made some strides in Texas last weekend. The Oklahoma City driver looked to be headed for the podium at Texas Motor Speedway south of Fort Worth on Friday night before being taken out and suffering a DNF. Saturday, he would finish eighth in the finale at TMS. The team is readying for more 360 action this weekend.
The team has been searching for a balance in the car, and Friday went well. “We were pretty good Friday,” says Wayne. “We were able to run up to third in the heat, and then we were able to get out front and win our Qualifier. That set us up for the redraw.”
Wayne would draw a starting spot outside row three and quickly move forward in the main event. “We were really good in the feature,” he says. “We were passing cars in the rubber, and got up to third. We were able to run anywhere we wanted. We had a restart with four to go, and got taken out by a lapped car. It just wouldn’t go, about spun out and collected me in the process.”
Missing a top four finish meant Wayne would have to start over in Saturday’s finale. “The draw started off bad, but we were able to go from eighth to fourth in the heat,” he says. “We were able to get out front in the Qualifier and we won that.”
It was enough to make the redraw again, and he would again start sixth for the feature. “We were just too tight,” says Wayne. “The balance was off a bit. We were maintaining really. We backed up to eighth at the end.”
Wayne feels that the team is making headway on their balance problem. “We’re definitely gaining on it,” he says. “We’re still changing parts, dyno-ing this and doing that. We’re still just a little bit off. We’re gaining, but we’re still not great.”

Wayne says, “We had some problems with our hauler this week around Fort Worth, and Bill Jewell helped get us back on the road. He fixed it, and put some “air tabs” on our truck. It saves us about a mile per gallon with our fuel mileage.”
