Bryant Not Satisfied with Top 15s at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track

Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (May 16, 2016) – Tommy Bryant isn’t satisfied with the results last weekend during the Texas World Dirt Track Championships despite making the feature both nights against a stacked field of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competitors at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

“It wasn’t quite what we were hoping for,” he said. “Yeah, we made the show both nights, but I know this team can get better results and we will work hard to get there.”

On Friday, the SawBlade.com backed Cooper Motorsports driver started the night by advancing from eighth to third place in a heat race. He then finished where he started – fifth – in a qualifier to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.

Bryant battled just outside the top 10 throughout the feature before ending 14th.

The team returned to the track on Saturday. Bryant maneuvered from fourth to second place in a heat race before he finished fifth in a qualifier. That locked him into the 16th starting position for the 30-lap main event.

“The track was a challenge,” he said. “It got real rubbered up. We went through 12 tires for the weekend.

“In the feature on Saturday something happened with the wing adjuster and I couldn’t get it to move. We had a caution about eight laps in and I finally got the wing back and the car was good.”

Bryant rebounded from the early problem to score a 12th-place finish.

He will take the upcoming weekend off to go through the car and get ready for a tripleheader of racing on Memorial Day Weekend with the ASCS Gulf South Region, featuring events on May 27 at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas; May 28 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas; and May 29 at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas.

Bryant is currently third in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings and 12th in the ASCS National Tour standings.
