[b Another New Point Leader: Jason Meyers Becomes Fourth Driver in 2010 to Hold the Top Spot]
Concord, NC— March 21, 2010—In what is shaping up to be another of the most competitive seasons in World of Outlaws history, there was yet another change at the top of the series championship standings following the two night Kasey’s King of Bulls Gap Presented By Budweiser at Volunteer Speedway over the weekend.
Jason Meyers moved into the top spot following his win on Saturday at the blazing fast and ultra high-banked track. Meyers leads the World of Outlaws with three A-Feature wins and has finished in the Top-10 in all nine events this season, making him the only driver to accomplish that feat. He is the fourth driver to hold the No. 1 position so far in 2010 through nine races.
Steve Kinser is currently second in points after finishing in the Top-Five both nights at Volunteer Speedway. The 20-time series champion is just five markers behind Meyers as he chases his record 21st title and is tied for the series lead with seven Top-Five finishes.
Joey Saldana is currently third in points. He entered the weekend as the point leader and extended that lead after a win on Friday night. He fell to third in the standings after a 24th-place finish in the finale after getting upside following an early race red flag. Saldana has eight Top-10 finishes in nine races with seven of those being Top-Fives.
Donny Schatz used sixth and 10th place finishes to move up a spot to fourth in points as he chases his fifth consecutive series title. He currently has seven Top-10 finishes with five of those being Top-Five runs.
Jason Sides is fifth in points, just one marker behind Schatz. Sides, who was victorious last weekend at Houston Raceway Park, has seven Top-10 finishes with four of those being Top-Five performances.
Danny Lasoski is currently sixth in points on the strength of six Top-Five finishes. The 2001 series champion matched his season-best finish on Friday night at Volunteer Speedway coming home third.
Kraig Kinser earned his fifth Top-10 finish of the season on Friday night in his second career start at Volunteer Speedway.
Paul McMahan used a very strong weekend that saw him finish fourth in the finale and fifth in the opener to jump all the way up to the eight spot in the series standings. He has finished eighth or better in six of his seven starts this season for Kasey Kahne Racing, where he is filling in for the injured Cody Darrah.
Jac Haudenschild, who scored his third Top-10 finish of the season on Saturday is currently ninth in points, with Tim Kaeding, who has four Top-10 finishes rounding out the Top-10.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Saturday, April 10 at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma. For more information on the World of Outlaws and to view the entire 2010 schedule visit www.worldofoutlaws.com/sprint.
