Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (May 3, 2016) – Dale Blaney is invading the Midwest this weekend.
Blaney and the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed CH Motorsports team will tackle the $10,000-to-win Dirt Classic I-80 on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., before wrapping up the weekend on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
“We’re really, really fortunate to have Muddy, Big Game and Tod Quiring supporting us,” he said. “If we can go support one of his bigger events of the year that’s a bonus for us. We don’t get out there very often. An off weekend for us with the All Stars gives us an opportunity to run that race and an opportunity to run some laps at Knoxville.”
Blaney has competed at I-80 Speedway, but it hasn’t been since the early 2000s.
“It’s been a long time,” he said. “Probably 2001 was the last time I’ve been there. I ran there quite a few times from 1998 to 2001. That’s a fun place to race on. It’s really, really wide and it can get slick at times. You can run a lot of different lanes.”
Blaney will then return to Knoxville Raceway for the first time since last summer when he qualified for his 10th career Knoxville Nationals A Main.
“We’re going to have a motor in that we’re hopefully going to run at the bigger races this year,” he said. “It will be a good test for us to see how it will respond. It will be a good field of cars because of I-80 running on Friday. So it’ll give us a good indication of how good we are. Hopefully it’ll give us some confidence before we head back out in August.”
Blaney has garnered three victories and 12 top-five finishes this season.
