Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (May 2, 2016) – Trey Starks continued his top-five ways at Grays Harbor Raceway last Saturday during the track’s season opener.

Starks, who won the season-opening event and had six top fives at the track last year, kicked off the night by setting quick time during qualifying.

“We were really fast early,” he said. “We were quickest in hot laps and quickest in time trials. We drew a good number, but I don’t think it mattered that much.”

Starks then advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race, which locked him into the feature inversion. Unfortunately, the No. 8 was rolled to start Starks on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“The track was pretty one lane,” he said. “It was definitely fast so the track was narrow. We got a good start and up to sixth on the initial start. We picked up another spot or two in the first 10 laps.

“I think we missed on the setup a little in the main. We guessed a little bit wrong. The new surface definitely levels the playing field for everybody. It acted a little different than the old surface.”

Starks ended with a fourth-place result, which was his third top five of the season.

He is scheduled to return to competition driving for Jeff McCall this Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“We’ve been good every time we’ve hit the track,” Starks said. “It’ll be a test this weekend because we’ll be on a bigger stage. I’m hoping for the same kind of results. I’ve run Eldora six or seven times and it’s definitely one of my favorite tracks.”
