(Bill W) March 16, 2010 – Another talented driver is looking for some help to get on the track as much as possible. Brandon Wimmer, who closed 2009 with a win in Ohio, is searching for opportunities. He had partnered with Rick Ferkel the past year in the famous #0 car, but the “Ohio Traveler” is leaving the car in the shop for the time being to become the crew chief for Greg Wilson. That leaves the Fairmount, Indiana driver scrambling for an opportunity with the 2010 Midwest sprint car season knocking.
Brandon is thankful for the opportunity afforded by Ferkel. “Rick went to wrench for Greg Wilson, and is shutting down his race operations for the time being,” he reiterates. “I want to thank him for the opportunities he’s given me for the last year, and maybe we’ll partner up again in the future.”
Of course, Brandon ran a limited number of shows last year with Farmington, Missouri’s Alan Barton. The equipment is still there, but they are looking for some help for race day operations. “We’re planning on running for Alan Barton and the #7TW, but we definitely need some help,” says the talented young driver. “We’ve got some equipment, but we need a partner to step up and help us get from race to race. We want to race as much as possible.”
Brandon is open to racing just about anywhere, as well. “At the same time, I’m looking for opportunities if anyone needs a driver,” he says. “I’d really love to get back to the West coast and this may be a good time with everything up in the air. I’d love to try to win that Skagit Dirt Cup title we got in 2007 again.”
He hasn’t had long to react to the recent events. “It all just happened in the last week or two, so we’re scrambling to get things together,” says Brandon. “Obviously, I’m open to racing anywhere, anytime. We’ll see what we have to work with and go with what we have.”
Brandon would like to thank Butlerbuilt, Simpson, Winning With Wellness and WRT Web Designs.
