Inside Line Promotions – TUCSON, Ariz. (April 21, 2016) – Jason Sides closed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series spring swing through California with a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend.

The action began on Friday at Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield for the Budweiser Bash with Sides qualifying 19th quickest before advancing from seventh to sixth place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the eighth row for the main event.

“The track was decent and it got way better toward the end,” he said. “It got wide and slick in the middle. I stayed on the bottom. Some of those guys running the top, you could squirt by on the bottom and get in front of them. We had a good car in the feature.”

Sides rallied from 16th to a ninth-place result, which was the second-most cars passed.

The competition resumed on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris for the SoCal Showdown. Sides timed in 13th quickest before he charged from fifth to second place in a heat race to lock into the dash.

“In the heat race we got beside (Donny) Schatz for the lead,” he said. “I don’t want to say we showed him the line, but the next corner we went to he was on the bottom. We ended up running second, which was good and put us in the dash.”

Sides then placed fourth in the dash to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“For the feature we left the car like it was,” he said. “They kept reworking the track, which I’m sure they had to. We lost a spot or two on the start. Then we stayed on the bottom three or four laps too long. By the time one or two guys got by on the outside the track got cleaned off and it rubbered up.”

Sides captured a ninth-place finish for the second straight night. It also marked his ninth top 10 of the season.

The team then ventured to USA Raceway on Monday for the NAPA Wildcat Shootout. Sides qualified 10th before he placed seventh in a heat race and fifth in a qualifier to start the main event on the outside of the seventh row.

“The track was plenty wet for as windy as it was and it didn’t seem to dry up until late in the feature,” he said. “It was really narrow in the heat races, but it got a little wider in the feature. It was basically two cars wide. We passed a couple of cars and basically that was it, just follow the leader.”

Sides garnered a 12th-place result.

He is scheduled to return to action this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the Texas Outlaw Nationals with the World of Outlaws. Sides finished fourth last year during the $20,000-to-win event.
