COWETA, Okla. (April 19, 2016) Kade Morton returned to Midget competition this past weekend with two nights behind the wheel in the Morton Excavating No. 8m at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Wainwright, Okla. and the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

Morton’s first visit to either track in a Midget, the Coweta, Okla. driver had to rely on his experience in a Sprint Car to navigate the two very different tracks to walk away from the weekend with a pair of top-ten runs.

“Outlaw is a monster in a Midget,” said Morton. “It’s one of those tracks you just don’t think about when you’re racing because you’re carrying so much speed around there.”

“In the Heat Race, we moved forward and that put us good in the lineup after the invert for the Feature. We started third, but the setup just wasn’t there. We had the car too tight on the right rear and I was having to wait on it off the corners so we ended up slipping back to eighth.”

Rolling into Little Rock on Saturday night, “Hammer Hill” served up plenty of action, and close calls for Morton whose night got off to a rocky start.

“We were doing good in the Heat until we broke the yolk on the driveshaft so we weren’t able to finish. The car was really fast until the yolk snapped. Thankfully I didn’t end with broken ankles. Since we didn’t have any passing points, we ended up starting 17th in the "A".”

Thrashing on the car until the very last minute, Morton’s only time to see the track again was when he finally rolled out for the A-Feature.

“Between the Heat and Main, we didn’t have a chance to look at the track trying to get the car put back together. We had no time to make any adjustments. We just added fuel and pushed out but the car actually felt really good. As the race went, I was able to adjust the shocks and it kept getting better. The biggest thing was just dodging the cautions. All in all, coming out with a sixth place run from 17th was great for the way the night started but the best thing about the weekend is I just felt more comfortable in the car”

In action this coming weekend, Morton will be back in the Sprint Car as the team chases their second title with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products. On the docket, the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan. on Friday, April 22 and Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo. on Saturday, April 23.

Both nights can be heard on http://www.racinboys.com with a Premium Membership.

“I’m looking forward to Humboldt and Springfield. Two years ago, I won with OCRS at Humboldt so it would be nice to back that up in an ASCS event and I haven’t been to Springfield in six years. In fact, the last time I was there I was in a Micro with POWRi.”

The 2016 season for Kade Morton will be a mixture of full time ASCS Red River action, OCRS Sprints, and Midget events throughout the mid-west. Kade’s racing adventures would not be possible without the help of his sponsors: Morton Excavating, Yocham Trucking, Whitacre Glass Works, MyRacePass.com, Wesmar, STK Racing Engines, Lucas Oil, Maxim Chassis and Super Shox.
