It has been basically three weeks since Jarrett was last on the track, as he only completed a lap during the April 2nd event at Canyon Speedway Park due to a blown motor. The week off between races gave Jarrett plenty of time to put the spare motor in and get the car ready for the first non-wing race of the year.
After making a few adjustments after hot laps, Jarrett was ready to go for the Heat race, where he would line up 6th. On the start the two cars directly in front of Jarrett would get together in the middle of turns 1 and 2, spinning out causing the first caution of the night to fly. Due to the two cars lined up in front of him causing the caution, Jarrett would move up to the outside of the pole for the 2nd attempt at a start. On the start Jarrett tried a little higher line going into 1 and 2 and then would move all the way to the bottom to challenge for the lead. We would only get one lap completed before the 2nd caution would come out for a spin in turn 2. On the restart Jarrett would keep pace with the leader and was right behind him on the bottom of the track, but again only one lap would be completed as the yellow would fly for another spin in turn 2. Jarrett would again get off to a good start and be right behind the leader, but with a one lane track, he wasn’t able to move forward and would finish in 2nd.
The team would make a couple adjustments to the car after the Heat and would be ready to go for the 25 lap Main. Jarrett would end up starting 5th and it would take 3 attempts to get the first green flag lap completed, which would quickly be followed by another caution for a spin in turn 3. The top 5 cars remained mostly single file for the first 5 laps of the race before yet another caution would come out for a wreck in turn 2. We would another 8 laps single file on the bottom of the track before the 5th and final caution would come out for a spin in the middle of turns 1 and 2. On the restart Jarrett would get by the 88 car in turn 2 to move into 4th. The field would remain single file from there as the high line just wouldn’t work. Jarrett would finish 4th for his 6th Top 5 of the year.
