World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Weekly Update

SALINA, Okla. — April 14, 2016 — In just two weeks, on Friday, April 29, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series visits Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma. Shane Stewart, who hails from nearby Bixby, Okla., won the event last year, while fellow Daryn Pittman from Owasso, was also on the podium in third.

Last weekend, Mother Nature was victorious twice as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series was set to compete at Calistoga Speedway in California, with both races falling to inclement weather.

Through the first 14 races of the season, Brad Sweet, who drives for Kasey Kahne Racing, leads the series standings over Stewart. Sweet has a series-best 12 top-five finishes, with four of those being victories. Stewart, who has won once thus far in 2016, is tied with Sweet for the most top-10 finishes, with 13.

Daryn Pittman, who is Sweet’s teammate at Kasey Kahne Racing, is currently third in the standings. The veteran driver picked up a win in Texas earlier this season. Donny Schatz, the seven-time and defending series champion, who leads the series with five wins, is fourth in the standings. Joey Saldana, who has one victory this season, rounds out the current top-five.

Jason Johnson, who won last month in California, is sixth in points. David Gravel, who also has a win, resides in the seventh spot in points, just 10 markers behind Johnson. Logan Schuchart, who finished a season-best second a couple of weeks ago, is currently eighth in the standings, followed by Jason Sides and Paul McMahan.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wraps up their California Swing this weekend, before heading to Arizona and Texas for a trio of races.
