Inside Line Promotions – DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 6, 2016) – Zach Blurton registered his second straight top-10 finish last Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park.
“We didn’t have any luck on our side when we drew in,” he said. “We drew a 30 so we started in the third row in the heat. We had a good start and I thought I was going to come out of turn two in third, but I got sandwiched between two cars down the back straightaway. It bent the Jacobs Ladder and cut the left rear tire down. We got lucky to finish the race.”
Blurton finished with a fourth-place result, which locked him into the 11th starting position for the main event.
“The track was so fast and wet,” he said. “It was cool out so it was really hard to pass. A couple of cars that were too tight pushed up the track and I got under them. It wasn’t anything great, but not a bad night either.”
Blurton ended with a ninth-place finish.
He will return to competition this Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park before Sunday’s URSS Kansas Region opener at WaKeeney Speedway in WaKeeney, Kan.
“I’m ready to get back to Dodge City and try it again,” he said. “I’m also looking forward to WaKeeney. We usually go really well there. I’m excited to get there and start defending our title.”
Blurton, who claimed the URSS Kansas Region championship last season, picked up one win and three podium finishes during three races at WaKeeney Speedway last year.
