Inside Line Promotions – LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (March 28, 2016) – Austen Wheatley will make his Washington season debut this weekend at Central Washington State Fair Raceway.
The Summer Thunder Sprint Series doubleheader at the fast track in Yakima on Friday and Saturday also marks his first time racing with a 360ci engine this season.
“We’ve had a few races with the World of Outlaws this year so hopefully we’re ready to go for two races in Washington with a 360,” he said. “We haven’t raced much in Yakima, but the last time we were there we put together a great finish.”
Wheatley made his debut at Central Washington State Fair Raceway in 2009. Five years later he returned and capped that doubleheader with a fifth-place result.
“I think we should be in contention for top fives both nights and hopefully a win or two,” he said. “It always helps you in a 360 after racing the 410 for a while so I think that could be an advantage for us.”
Wheatley hasn’t competed with a 360 engine since recording a seventh-place finish in a race at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., last July.
