Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (March 22, 2016) – Derek Hagar is seeking to continue his podium streak this weekend when he makes his debut at 81 Speedway.
Hagar has scored a podium during each of his three winged sprint car starts this year entering the 6th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series this Friday and Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval in Park City, Kan.
“I’ve never been there, but I saw a picture and it looked pretty slick,” he said. “I’m excited to head out there. We’ve ran with some of those guys who will be there and have won races they’ve been at so we know we can win. Hopefully we get it done.”
The event pays $10,000 to win, which is what put Hagar over the edge on making the eight-hour drive each way to compete.
“There’s a lot of money on the line,” he said. “Hopefully we can bring that $10,000 home. I think you have to go in with an open mindset. We have to keep the money out of mind and race like we normally do and everything will fall into place.”
Hagar earned 12 feature victories last season, which gave him three straight years with double-digit triumphs.
