Devils Bowl Speedway was the site for the ASCS National Series Spring Nationals this past weekend. Jim Perricone and the JBMotorsports 10P spint car team were in attendance for a first time appearance at the famous half mile. Unfortunately, night one was called off due to rain and cold temperatures. Night two the team had their new J&J Auto Racing car ready with a freshened motor for 2016. Jim started outside row two in the final heat of the night but the motor would stumble at the start and we finished outside the transfer spot for the qualifiers. Jim would start 15th in B Main 2 and having fueling issues with the car from the heat race figured out was ready to go. At the start of the B Main some cars got together on the front stretch. Morgan Turpen checked up and when Jim hit the brake, no brake was there. Jim climbed up the back of Morgans tail tank and did a huge wheelie in the air before coming down and bouncing off the front stretch wall. Jim stopped in turn two to see if any damage had been done, then Devils Bowl Speedway went dark as the lights went out. After a short delay the lighting for the track came back on and gave the team time to get the car fixed to start the B Feature again. Jim finally settled in and moved from 15th to finish a solid 8th, missing a transfer spot into the A main by 2 spots. Brakes and fueling concerns need to be worked out before our next race. It is always difficult to get those first race jitters out of your system and now it is go time for the team. The team is looking forward to the April 8-9 ASCS Southern Outlaw/Gulf South doubleheader at Jackson Motor Speedway.
