Trenca Focusing on 410 Sprint Car Competition during 2016 Campaign

Inside Line Promotions – CLAY, N.Y. (March 15, 2016) – It’s almost time for Joe Trenca to climb back inside his sprint car.

However, this season will be different for the Mucci Motorsports driver as the team is transitioning into 410ci winged sprint car competition on a regular basis.

“I’d say 75 percent of our schedule are 410 races,” he said. “It’s exciting, but it’s also going to be a tough year. About 90 percent of our 410 racing is in Pennsylvania and everyone knows how tough it is racing in Central Pennsylvania. It’s going to be a fun time, but also a tough learning curve. We’re up for the challenge. We’ve put a good package together.”

Trenca will kick off the 2016 season April 1 at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and April 2 at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. That will be the first of many weekends spent in Central Pennsylvania for Trenca, who is coming off a season when he posted career bests in top fives and top 10s.

“Last year we tried doing a bunch of races and the rainouts hurt us,” he said. “Hopefully we don’t get as many rainouts this year. It’s tough to build a team running 410 and 360. It’d be nice to run 55 races to see what you need so you have better knowledge for the future.”

Trenca said he won’t compete for points at any track or with any series. The goal for 2016 is to gain as much seat time as possible.

“We like running around and hitting as many races as we can,” he said. “This year in the 360 stuff we’re focused on the tracks we enjoy to compete at and have been successful at. We learned last year some stuff from the 410 that we applied to the 360. There were some races we knew we weren’t going to be as competitive, but we were there for seat time and to learn.”

Trenca is scheduled to return to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, in July for the Kings Royal. He has competed at the event in 360 competition the last two years and is hopeful to pull double duty at the premier sprint car event in 2016.

Trenca said he also plans to compete in select World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions events on the East Coast, including the National Open at Williams Grove Speedway and the spring World of Outlaws event at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., to name a couple.
