Inside Line Promotions – FORNEY, Texas (March 14, 2016) – Travis Rilat has one goal for this weekend’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
“I want to win,” he said. “We know how to win races and we’ve won at Devil’s Bowl, but it’s been too long since I’ve been to Victory Lane there.”
Rilat will compete on Friday and Saturday at the unique half-mile oval in Mesquite, Texas, where he has recorded at least one top-10 finish each season for the past 11 years. His last win at the track was in 2012.
“Devil’s Bowl is a different track than all the others,” he said. “The corners are different and the way you enter the corners on both ends of the track is different. It’s important to have a setup that will allow you to run both ends of the track well versus just being good at one end.”
Rilat did just that during his only race at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last season. After being relegated to a B Main because he lost a position during a heat race to finish third, Rilat put on a charge in the features. He placed second in the consolation race to capture a transfer into the back of the main event, where he powered from 20th to a fourth-place result to keep his streak alive.
“That was a great way to end the night,” he said. “We had a car capable of winning if we didn’t have to start so far back in the field. Hopefully we can have that type of car from the start of the night on Friday and put ourselves in position to pick up our first win in the United States this year.”
Rilat has earned one international victory this season. He visited Victory Lane last month during the Tyson Perez Memorial in Australia.
