Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (March 11, 2016) – The sophomore season of the National Sprint League is approximately one month from getting underway.

Big Game Motorsports driver Danny Lasoski will return to the series as the defending champion and one of the favorites in 2016. Lasoski scored nine victories during the 28 races last year en route to an 893-point triumph in the championship standings. He also had 21 top fives and 26 top 10s, which led the series in both statistics.

“We were well prepared,” Lasoski said. “Tod (Quiring) had a vision of putting a league together and it worked out really well. When he hired Guy Forbrook to put the Muddy team together he did a great job of working hard in the offseason. That helped us have consistency and speed. You shoot for momentum, but it comes hand in hand with speed. If you have speed you just fine-tune that. That was our strong suit. When we unloaded at a track I’d say 90 percent of the races we were already in the middle of the game.”

Ian Madsen garnered the runner-up position in the 2015 championship standings with Tim Kaeding, who won the series finale, placing third. Bill Balog claimed two triumphs as he edged three-time winner Terry McCarl for fourth in the standings.

Mark Dobmeier, Dusty Zomer and Sammy Swindell each recorded a pair of victories with Bryan Clauson, Brian Brown, Craig Dollansky, Brad Loyet, Wayne Johnson, Justin Henderson and Brad Sweet also reaching Victory Lane in 2015.

Johnson was victorious during the inaugural event last April at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. That track will also open the 2016 season for the National Sprint League on Saturday, April 9.

“Usually they have a top groove and a bottom groove and leave the middle smooth,” Lasoski said. “It makes for pretty good racing. We’re looking forward to going down there and starting the season on a high note.”
