Johnson Set for Las Vegas Debut This Week with World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions – PENNGROVE, Calif. (Feb. 29, 2016) – Chase Johnson will make his debut in Las Vegas this week when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series visits Sin City.

Johnson is set to drive for Shawn and Cyndi Thomas at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas on Thursday and Friday, when he will make his season debut with the World of Outlaws on the fast track.

“I’m really excited to get this year started,” he said. “I feel really good, a lot better than in years past. Shawn has been working hard this winter to get things ready so we have the best of the best and a great chance to go out and compete with the top 410 guys.

“I’ve done my studying. I’ve seen videos. I‘m really excited. It’s a big track. You have to keep calm and be nice and smooth in the car.”

Johnson knocked the rust off when he competed last month at the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz., where he earned a pair of top 20s at the prestigious event. Johnson said he’s looking to build on that momentum this week versus the Outlaws.

“The goal for this week is to put it in the show and make sure the car comes home in one piece each night,” he said. “I’m excited not only for this weekend, but the 2016 season as a whole.”

Johnson is scheduled to drive for Shawn and Cyndi Thomas approximately 35 times this season, including most of the World of Outlaws races in the West as well as a majority of the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series events.

He will also pilot his family owned 360ci winged sprint car a dozen times and fill in his schedule with a handful of outlaw kart races this summer for McClish Motorsports. Johnson recently won his first feature of the season at Lakeport Indoor Speedway in Lakeport, Calif., with the team. He also added a third-place result at that track earlier this month.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Newman Freeman Racing

During the 1976 auto racing season, actor Paul Newman became interested in forming a professional auto racing team and contacted Bill Freeman from Santa Barbara. Freeman is credited as the man who introduced Newman to professional auto racing management and their company specialized in Can-Am, Indy Cars and other high performance racing automobiles.

“The reason Paul Newman got into racing was because of a guy named Bill Freeman,” Johnson said. “Bill hasn’t really been involved in racing since Paul’s death so we really appreciate his support and partnership.”

Johnson would also like to thank Johnny Franklin’s Mufflers, PitStopUSA.com, Shifty Illusions, Napa Auto Parts, Flowmaster, Don’s Truck Repair, VSR, Oroville Cycle, I-Wear Graphix, Driven Raceway, Nor-Cal Transmission and Chevron Pro-Gas for their continued support.
