  • Last night’s “Salute to Bob Trostle” was a resounding success with over 100 friends and family members coming out to honor 1993 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Bob Trostle and his wife Dorotha. The initial program in the National Sprint Car Museum’s new Sprint Car 101 Third Thursday Series was highlighted by fellow Hall of Famer Ray Lee Goodwin and six other former sprint car drivers for Bob Trostle. Bob has built over 500 chassis in his career, had over 100 drivers in his cars, and won over 350 sprint car feature events.

Museum executive director and last night’s emcee Bob Baker said, “We were really pleased to see Billy Dusenbery, Greg Helms, Ray Lee Goodwin, Tony Moro, Randy Smith, Brent Antill and Lee Nelson all make the effort to be here to honor their former mechanic and sprint car owner. Hall of Fame driver Doug Wolfgang had also told us that he had planned to be here if it hadn’t conflicted with previous family commitments. Photos from last night’s reception can be found at www.sprintcarhof.com listed under ‘Virtual Tours’. The museum staff and volunteers are already busy planning next month’s ‘Salute to Ralph Capitani and P. Ray Grimes’ as it will be a fitting tribute to these fine Knoxville racing directors in the 50th year of the Knoxville Nationals.”

Those individuals interested in learning more about the “Sprint Car 101” Third Thursday Series at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum are urged to visit www.sprintcarhof.com. Knoxville Raceway directors of racing Ralph Capitani and P. Ray Grimes will be feted on Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. on the museum’s second floor. The receptions are free and open to the public.
