TULSA, Okla. (February 18, 2016) A regular name in the American Sprint Car Series over the past three years, running a variety of Regional and National events, Josh Baughman will take on the full Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network for the first time in 2016.
Despite the years involved, Josh is still considered a Rookie on the National Tour; putting him in the hunt for the Brodix Rookie of the Year along with Steven Russell.
“We’ve never really committed to a full time season. We’ve had quite a few ASCS National races, and this year I feel like our chances are strong. We’re going to race very weekend like we have, regardless, not really worry about the points, and just go out and try to win every night,” said Josh of the coming season. “I don’t like points racing. I feel like it just slows you down.”
From Modifieds at an early age, Josh broke into Sprint Cars while attending Odessa High School. Starting in the 305cid ranks across west Texas and southern New Mexico, Josh moved up to ASCS in 2013.
In terms of off season preparation, not much has changed for the team as Josh will again utilize the knowledge of Wayne Priddy as the head wrench on the Hollywood Blasting and Coatings No. 17. Maxim. One change is the addition of Fischer Body Shop on full time as a primary sponsor of the Hollywood Blasting and Coatings No. 17, bringing a whole new look to Baughman’s car and rig with the assistance of Sean Cain and Blackbeard Designs.
“Our goal this year is to just get wins. We’ve had Fischer Body Shop and C.C.C. come onboard full time this year, and our goal is to get our first National Tour win, and not just one, but several and be competitive every time we pull onto the track.”
Josh will look to be up to speed with events leading up to the start of the 2016 season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, using those events to shake down the car and the team before hitting the road.
Equipment wise, Josh will utilize Maxim Chassis with Moss Racing Engines between the tubes. Along with thanking Fischer Body Shop and C.C.C. for their support in 2016, Josh would also like to thank Compression Generation Services, Beard Equipment, Hollywood Blasting & Coating, B&H Services, FK Midwest, and Octane Ink.
