NASCAR star Kasey Kahne to tackle Australian aces in Sydney Sprintcar series

NASCAR star Kasey Kahne knows what it’s like to reach the dizzying heights of fame in his chosen field.

The rewards are handsome but the pressure is high, the risks are big and the demands on his time sizeable.

So you’d think that after a hectic American year of chasing his share of well over $1 million in prizemoney, servicing sponsors, meeting hundreds of thousands of fans and organising next year, a well-earned rest at home might be on the cards.

Not for Kahne.

The 36-year-old will spend his Christmas and New Year in Australia racing his Sprintcar, as far away as you can get from his “real job”.

“For me, the idea of getting down to Australia and racing my Sprintcar is my idea of a dream holiday. I can have fun racing there and get away from it all. I can’t wait,” he said.

Kahne owns a two-car World of Outlaw Sprintcar team in the US and regularly drives on the dirt himself when the NASCAR schedule allows him.

One of his team drivers in America, Californian Brad Sweet, will also compete over the International Series at Valvoline Raceway from this Saturday night.

Sweet was a dominant force in last year’s series winning five main races from six contested and the pint-sized redhead will be hard to top again on this tour.
