Inside Line Promotions – SOMERTON, Ariz. (Dec. 3, 2015) – A notable points fund is up for grabs during the 2nd annual Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown.
Cometic Gasket, JE Pistons and K1 Technologies have returned as points fund sponsors and will distribute $10,000 among the top five finishers in overall points during the premier offseason 410ci winged sprint car event in the United States, which is hosted by Cocopah Speedway on Jan. 1-2, Jan. 5 and Jan. 8-9.
“We are thrilled that Cometic Gasket, JE Pistons and K1 Technologies have agreed to be a part of the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown again,” Cocopah Speedway General Manager Greg Burgess said. “It was a great partnership during the inaugural event and we look forward to building on that in January during our second edition of the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown.”
The overall event champion will garner $4,000 with drivers placing second through fifth in the event standings pocketing $1,500 each.
A driver will earn points throughout heat races, qualifying races and main events during the five events. A competitor must attempt to compete in all five Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown races, which pay $12,000 to win and $1,000 to start on Jan. 1-2 and Jan. 8-9 and $5,000 to win on Jan. 5, to be eligible for the points fund.
Danny Lasoski and Stevie Smith tied for the championship with Lasoski winning the tiebreaker of most feature victories during the inaugural event. Joey Saldana, Paul McMahan and Roger Crockett rounded out the top five in the standings, respectively.

The 2nd annual Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown will showcase the top sprint car drivers in the world in sunny Southwest Arizona during the first two weeks of January in 2016. The four weekend races pay $12,000 to the winner and at least $1,000 to every driver who advances to the main event with the midweek show paying $5,000 to win.
