Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 10, 2015) – Jason Sides ended his season with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on the move last weekend during the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals.

Sides passed 10 cars during both features at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, where the Outlaws season came to a close with Sides ranked eighth in the championship standings.

The action began on Thursday when Sides timed in 16th quickest for Friday’s program and 22nd for Saturday’s event, which was postponed a day because of weather.

“Qualifying was the biggest part of it,” he said. “We didn’t expect it to be like it was. The track was so good that it would get faster toward the end of qualifying.”

Sides then opened Friday’s race by advancing from his sixth starting position to earn a third-place result during a heat race.

“I took the green and got into fourth pretty quickly,” he said. “On the end of the first or second lap a couple of cars got together. It went back green and Sammy (Swindell) had a wing come apart. That put us to second. It was one of the longer heat races for the night. I ended up finishing third and really that was the defining moment for that night because it got us in the feature.”

Sides then started the 25-lap feature on a rough track in the 19th position.

“Instead of trying to run through the holes we put a little more gear in it and made it to where we’d run the bottom,” he said. “I was best on restarts and starts, getting into the corner and off the corner. I had to pick each one of them off because I wasn’t going to get up in that rough stuff.”

Sides charged from 19th to post a ninth-place finish, which marked his 35th top 10 of the season.

The event wrapped up on Sunday with Sides placing seventh in a heat race. He elected not to start the C Main and took advantage of a provisional, which lined him up on the inside of the 13th row for the main event.

“The biggest thing was the track moved the tires in for the feature to give us a little grip to hit on the bottom,” he said. “We got the car to rotate around the bottom. You had to be really close to the tires down there. There was just enough moisture if you slowed down you could hit that. The last eight to 10 laps the rubber came in above that and I was still below it. (Kerry) Madsen backed up and then got back by me and that’s when I realized I needed to move up another car width and a half out.”

Sides rallied from 25th to a 15th-place finish.

“Despite where we started we still passed 10 cars both nights,” he said. “It was pretty good and I’m glad it’s over.”
