Inside Line Promotions – BURLISON, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2015) – Brandon Hanks has been looking forward to this week’s 28th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals since last year’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event.

“It’s our favorite race of the year,” he said. “We love it more than any other race we go to and it’s one of the more challenging races we go to. We circle Short Track Nationals on our calendar.”

Hanks and his David Smith Racing team will compete at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., on Wednesday during the Short Track Nationals Open prior to Hanks competing on Thursday during preliminary competition. The event wraps up on Saturday with a $15,000-to-win feature.

“It’s a lot of fun and close to the house,” he said. “So far I’ve made it to the main event two out of three times. I feel really confident. I-30 is one of my favorite tracks.”

Hanks has advanced into the Short Track Nationals feature on the Saturday show each of the last two years. He placed 16th last season after earning a 10th-place result in 2013.

“Everything has to play out perfectly,” he said. “You need to have a good heat race and turn around and have a good qualifier on your preliminary night. It’s not easy. It’s one of the hardest shows to make.”

Hanks said his goal is to make the Saturday feature for the third straight year.

“We know we can make it,” he said. “Once we make it we hope for a top 10. When the World of Outlaws guys show up it raises the bar and it’s even harder to make the show. It really is an accomplishment when you can race against those guys and make it in.”
