Dover Charges from Back after Opening-Lap Incident at 81 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (Oct. 15, 2015) – Jack Dover nearly rebounded from the back of the field to garner a top-10 finish last Saturday at 81 Speedway.

Dover, who was driving for Gary Swenson, opened the NCRA event by advancing from fourth to second place during a heat race.

“We picked up those two positions one at a time,” he said. “The track was one lane around the top so we had to work to get up to second.”

That was good enough to line Dover up on the outside of the second row for the main event on the tricky track. Unfortunately, Dover slid off the track entering turn three on the opening lap and he was forced to restart last.

“The top was a little treacherous and you wanted to get as much as you could on the start with all the cars packed together,” he said. “We just got in the loose stuff and that sent us around.”

Dover maneuvered from the back of the pack to post an 11th-place result.

“We did as good as we could, but passing was at a premium,” he said. “We were doomed once we went off the track and lost all those positions.”

Dover will return to competition Oct. 28-31 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., for the 28th annual Comp Cams Short Track Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
