Inside Line Promotions – ELBRIDGE, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2015) – Last weekend was extremely long for Jason Sides, who ventured approximately 17 hours each way to compete on Saturday with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park.

“It took us about 17 hours to drive up to Rolling Wheels and 17 hours to get home,” he said. “Then we got stuck in the pits for an hour and a half after the race. I think we added it up that it was 60 hours from the time we left the shop to when we got back and we got about six hours of sleep during that time.”

The track was lightning fast as a new track record was established during qualifying. Sides timed in 15th quickest – only 0.15 of a second out of the heat race inversion – at the 5/8-mile track.

“The track stayed fast all night,” he said “The rain the day before may have helped. We qualified just a tick off, but not bad. We were non-trusting as far as how good the track was going into turns three and four. Turns one and two was really good and you could run that wide open around there. I’m a little concerned about that wall in turn four.”

Sides then advanced from fifth to fourth place during a heat race, which locked him into the 14th starting position for the main event.

“On the start of the feature we were on the outside and it was pretty good,” he said. “We ripped around the outside, but had a caution right away. We got another good start and were up to eighth. Later we had another restart and I was on the inside for the double-file restart. I went to the bottom and when I lifted it took all the air off the car and plowed up the race track.”

Sides spent the second half of the race battling for a top-10 finish.

“We came around there on the last lap right there with Jason Johnson for 10th,” he said. “I didn’t see the white flag, but I saw the checkered. I stayed on the gas through turns one and two and down the backstretch, but I lifted going into turns three and four when they started talking on the radio. That allowed Kerry Madsen to get by us. I guess they were throwing the checkered for Donny Schatz, who was right behind me, and I was on the last lap.”

Sides was credited with a 12th-place result.

He is slated to compete with the World of Outlaws this Friday at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Sides last scored a top five at the track in 2009.
