Schuett clinches POWRi Rookie of the Year honors

Dupo, IL (October 12, 2015) Hard work and consistent finishes have led Kyle Schuett and his Schuett Racing team to one of their biggest goals of the 2015 season – earning the Lucas Oil POWRi Midget Rookie of the Year honors. This past weekend the POWRi midgets invaded Jacksonville Speedway for two nights of action packed racing, and it didn’t disappoint. Prior to the weekend, Kyle led fellow rookie contender, Tucker Klaasmeyer, by 570 points; nearly two full nights of available points. Schuett and Klaasmeyer have raced each other hard all season long and both are sitting in the top ten in POWRi driver points and both have had remarkable rookie seasons. After Friday’s events, Schuett earned enough points to clinch the Rookie of the Year title, but would like to congratulate Tucker on a great season and thank him for the great racing all season long.

While Friday night didn’t start the way that Schuett Racing had hoped, Kyle was able to make the best of the situation and salvage another top fifteen finish. It is his consistency all season long that has made Kyle’s first season a success. In heat race action, Kyle started third in a race full of driving talent. Suffering from some engine issues, Kyle fell back for a fifth place finish which sent him to the B-main. Starting fourth in the B-main, Kyle was able to stay in the top six and transfer on to the night’s 30-lap A-main event. After contact with another car mid-race, Kyle began working his way back through the field again and was able to finish in 13th. Although it was not the night he or the team hoped for, it was enough to seal his rookie honors and to continue his consistency of top 15 finishes with one of the premiere midget series in the country.

On Saturday night, Kyle found himself starting outside of the front row of heat race number four. Again struggling with a sluggish engine on the start, Kyle fell back to a fourth place finishing position. Continuing to work on the issue, the Schuett Racing team went to work and were finally able to diagnose and fix the issues before the B-main event. For the B-main, Kyle started third and finished comfortably in second, transferring on to the 30-lap A-main. In A-feature action, Kyle drove a smart race and took advantage of several cautions and race stoppages to move forward to a seventh place finish from his 18th place starting position.

There is one event left on the 2015 POWRi racing schedule; the Jason Leffler Memorial will be coming up on October 23rd at the Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Illinois. This event boasts the highest payout of the 2015 season and is expected to bring out midget and sprint car racers from across the country. Kyle and the Schuett Racing ?#?9K? will be ready to do battle with the best of the best as they pay tribute to the late champion midget racer, Jason Leffler. This will be your final chance to see Kyle in 2015, so be sure to come out and join Schuett Racing on the 23rd.

As they have done all season, Kyle and his Schuett Racing team would like to thank everyone for their support.
