Inside Line Promotions – LAWTON, Okla. (Oct. 7, 2015) – Cody Wampler enjoyed a successful 2015 season driving sprint cars for Randall Buzbee.

The team recorded a pair of feature victories, including Wampler’s first since 2003, and captured 10 top-10 finishes during 16 races.

“To get a couple of wins and that long stretch of several weeks finishing in the top five, it was a great season,” Wampler said. “Outside of the motor stuff we didn’t tear up anything. We knocked one front end down. We stayed out of trouble. Obviously we’d like to minimize those engine issues, but outside of that it’s been very good.”

Unfortunately, the season ended on a sour note last Friday during the Winter Nationals at Lawton Speedway. Wampler was leading a heat race when his engine expired midway through the race. That ended his night, weekend and the season.

“We grenaded that thing,” he said. “It has a hole in the side of the block the size of a softball. They found a whole rod on the track. You always hate to end like that. You want to end on a good note. Overall everybody was real pleased with how the last two months of the season went.”

Wampler’s two victories – Aug. 1 and Aug. 15 at Lawton Speedway – highlighted a summer streak of five straight top-five finishes. That led to Wampler placing fifth in the champ sprints championship standings at the quarter-mile track despite missing multiple races.

“It was great to get two wins and I think we would have had a couple more without engine problems, but our consistency was great,” he said. “We finished in the top five in almost half the races and in the top 10 in about two-thirds of the races. It’s definitely something to build on.

“I want to thank Randall for the opportunity and all of the sponsors for their support. I can’t wait to get back to the track in 2016.”
