Inside Line Promotions – CORLEY, Texas (Oct. 7, 2015) – Brandon Hanks garnered his 17th top 10 of the season last Saturday at Timberline Speedway.

Hanks and his David Smith Racing team opened the ASCS Red River Region event by winning a heat race from the pole.

“We led all the laps and we were pretty good,” he said. “I came in and thought I was too free. We were good out front, but there wasn’t much passing going on. I thought the track would slick up some more for the feature.”

The heat race performance was good enough to lock Hanks into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 5 during the random redraw to line up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“We weren’t that great in the feature,” he said. “We couldn’t get off the corner. We did try something different with the setup. We tried it at Lucas Oil Speedway a couple of weeks ago and wanted to play with it again on another track. We just missed it. I could get into the corners and through the center ok, but I couldn’t get off the corners.”

Hanks battled for a top five throughout the feature on the rubber-down track, but he lost a couple of positions in traffic before posting an eighth-place result.

The David Smith Racing team is scheduled to compete with the ASCS Red River Region this Saturday at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, where Hanks will make his debut.
