Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Oct. 6, 2015) – Jack Dover captured his first career Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints championship last weekend thanks to a podium finish during the season finale at I-80 Speedway.

Dover kicked off the event on Friday by winning a heat race from the pole. He then advanced from sixth to second place during the qualifier to garner the third starting position for Saturday’s main event.

“Friday night we were really pleased and happy,” he said. “We knew we’d be sitting pretty good for the A Main on Saturday.”

Dover spent most of Saturday’s main event running in second place despite an ill-handling sprint car.

“I don’t know if we had a bar go bad or a shock, but I had the car setup like normal and it just wasn’t working,” he said. “There was a red with two laps to go and I looked at my left rear tire and it was getting really low. I just hoped it would make it to the finish. It blew coming out of turn four.”

Dover nursed the car around the track following the restart. However, the tire let go exiting turn four on the final lap. One car passed Dover at the finish line, but his third-place result was good enough to claim the series championship.

“I don’t really pay attention to points, but at the end of the year when you win the championship without really trying it shows how good of a season you had,” he said.

Dover also competed with the FVP National Sprint League throughout the two-day event at I-80 Speedway.

“The 410 didn’t go as well as we hoped,” he said. “We time trialed bad both nights and weren’t very good in the heat races.”

Dover, who was driving for Chris Bowers, qualified 27th quickest on Friday and 26th on Saturday. He finished eighth in a heat race both nights, which relegated him to the B Main.

“On Friday the car was really good in the B Main,” he said. “We drove from ninth to fifth to transfer into the feature so we didn’t really change it for the A Main.”

Dover then rallied from his 23rd starting position to post a 16th-place result during the main event.

“It was respectable for not being in the car that much,” he said. “I got more comfortable in the car and figured out what the motor liked for a gear.”

Unfortunately, Saturday didn’t end as well. Dover was unable to start the consolation race because of a mechanical issue.
