Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Sept. 23, 2015) – Jack Dover picked up a pair of top-15 finishes last weekend during the Casey’s General Store Midwest Fall Brawl IV at I-80 Speedway.

“It’s always a good night if your car comes home in one piece,” he said. “It’s also frustrating because that’s one of the tracks I race good at. We know we can win there. It just wasn’t our weekend.”

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader was consolidated into one event on Saturday following Friday’s rain out. Dover kicked off the event by finishing third in a heat race, which lined him up on the inside of the eighth row for the first main event.

“In the heat we weren’t very good off the corner,” he said. “I knew something wasn’t right. Luckily my engine builder was there and he checked the timing. It was way off so we fixed that for the first feature. The motor ran a lot better. I think it showed because we went from 15th to fifth.”

Dover was running fifth and closing in on the fourth-place driver when his left rear tire went flat with six laps remaining.

“I just used my tires up too soon and blew the left rear,” he said. “We put a new tire on and returned to the back of the field. We were sitting 12th on the last restart with two laps to go and I tried to pass more cars and I ended up getting passed.”

Dover ended with a 15th-place result. That was three spots out of locking into the second feature, which inverted the top 12 finishers in the first main event to determine the first six rows of Feature No. 2.

Dover placed fourth in the B Main, which gave him the 16th starting position for the second main event. Unfortunately, the track was already caked in rubber and passing was at a premium.

“We put new tires on for the feature and tried to pass a couple of cars on the first lap,” he said. “Then we just rode around like everyone else. You had to pass them right away or be right there to capitalize if they screwed up.”

Dover recorded a 12th-place finish in the second main event.

He is slated to compete this Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., with the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints. Dover owns a 22-point lead in the championship standings with only three races remaining.
