TULSA, Okla. (September 14, 2015) How would you describe the Casey’s General Store ASCS Midwest Fall Brawl presented by Just 1 More Promotions? If you ask Jack Dover, the answer is simply “awesome”.
Happening Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. each night will feature a $5,000 to win, $400 to start A-Feature, meaning drivers will have to work a little harder as there will be no lock-ins from Friday’s A-Feature.
That hard work has its rewards however as Home Pride presents the “Home Pride Hail Storm $20,000 Double Down Back-2-Back Challenge” to put the potential winner’s pay at $30,000 for the weekend.
In addition to purse and bonus however, $6,000 in lap money has been collected as well as the $1,000 Hard Charger Award each night, plus the Select Auto Fastest Lap of the Race worth $100. Top it off with the Electrical Systems, Inc. $300 lucky podium draw.
Looking to get back into Victory Lane is 2013 Fall Brawl Champion, Jack Dover.
Chasing Jason Johnson to the checkered flag in the first edition of the ASCS Midwest Fall Brawl in 2012, the following year saw the event shoot into orbit with the announcement of a $20,000 bonus to sweep the weekend. Stepping up the plate, the multi time ASCS Midwest Regional Champion went big when the money was on the line.
“With it being the first year that the bonus was offered, not knowing if anyone could even do it, and going out and actually pulling it off was just awesome,” said the Springfield, Neb. native who ended up banking over $30,000 in purse, bonuses, and lap money.
Sanctioning with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network for the first time in 2014, the stakes were raised to unbelievable heights as the bonus to sweep the weekend went to $50,000. A bounty that no one thought could realistically be obtained with the amount of talent that was scheduled to be in attendance.
Enter Wayne Johnson who, going into the Fall Brawl, had been on a roller coaster of results over the past two years.
“There aren’t any words,” said Johnson when asked to describe what it meant to win the Fall Brawl.
“To be honest with you, I didn’t realize it was such a big race until after I had won the first night and it soaked in that it was $50,000 to win. Being one of the largest paying races, right up there with Eldora, and Knoxville, it meant a lot; especially to my team because we were in financial ruin at the time. We were in trouble so someone was looking out for us because we needed that.”
In all, Johnson collected $61,150 between purse, bonuses, and lap money. Is stands as the single largest payout for an event in the history of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, and is the largest payday in Wayne Johnson’s career.
The weekend will include A-Modifieds on Friday with the SLMR Super Late Models joining the card on Saturday. For more information, on the I-80 Speedway, log onto http://www.i-80speedway.com.
