Will Gerrits took the lead at the midway point to win the NAPA 900 20-lap Badger 600 Micro Series presented by My Race Pass, Saturday Night at the Beaver Dam Raceway. Gerrits’ fifth feature win of the season clinched the season-long Championship, heading into the series finale at the track next Saturday Night Sept. 19.
Ty Springer jumped into the lead at the start, several cautions during the first eight laps kept the field bunched up. Zach Boden passed Springer for the lead entering Turn One on Lap 9. Gerrits then moved inside of Springer and the trio exited Turn Two, three abreast, Gerrits held the line and took the lead.
Once in the lead Gerrits pulled away from the field, becoming the fourth different champion in the five-year history of the division. Zach Boden, Chad Bogar, Norm Ehrke and Tyler Brabant completed the top five. The feature paid $900 to win due to event sponsors: NAPA Filters, Pete’s Auto Repair & Sales of Waupon, and NAPA Auto Parts of Beaver Dam-Waupun.
